About Me

Hello there!
I am Adati, a postdoctoral researcher at Yale School of Medicine. I am pharmacist and a PhD-trained health services researcher.  I received my PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW-Madison) School of Pharmacy and my Doctorate in Pharmacy (PharmD) from Drake University where I graduated with academic and leadership honors. My research Substance Use Disoders (SUD) and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). I am particularly interested in researching people underserved by pharmacy services. My work has always been grounded in health equity and as such The Office of Minority Health (OMH) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) selected me as research Health Equity Fellow.

I am passionate about mental health and I volunteer and regularly facilitate National Alliances of Mental Health (NAMI) support groups. I was awarded the NAMI Dane County Award of Excellence 2022. I have been honored to have recieved awards and recognition for my research, leadership and academics, including the UW-Madison Graduate Women in Science Award. I am also a member of the Edward Bouchet E. Honor Society, nominated by the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Research Interests

My PhD dissertation explored medication adherence among people with HIV and SUD using a computer-mediated discourse analysis of participants using the Addiction Comprehensive Health Enhancement Support System (A-CHESS) mobile application. I used my training in medication adherence support and utilized both quantitative and qualitative methodologies to investigate the factors associated with medication adherence among A-CHESS users, further exploring how they establish relatedness to achieve the common goal of adherence to Anti Retroviral Treatment.

In the immediate future, I would like to go further with designing interventions using the perspective of communities disproportionately affected by SUD. My dissertation was a baseline study in my research ambitions to develop, adapt, and test interactive and technology-based behavior change interventions for people with problematic substance use.
